Service Dogs

Service dogs are something that we take extremely seriously. Service dogs cannot be completed in a few weeks or even a few months. It takes a lot of time and dedication to raise and train the perfect service dog. Our goal at Texas Canine Training LLC is to prioritize the safety of the handler and their needs. That means that we are extremely careful in the selection, training, and evaluations of each dog that we come across. We have multiple options for service dog training:

- Private lessons

-Board and Train (sold on a case by case basis, minimum of 3 months at a time)

- Pre-trained Service Dog Candidates (dogs that have been raised for service work)

Private Lessons

The goal of service dog lessons is to teach the owner/handler everything they need to know about raising, training, working with, and maintaining their service dog. This can be used for young puppies or older dogs, provided they pass the intial evaluation and temperament tests. For these lessons, you will need a dog and will be responsible for buying/finding one. One of our trainers would love to assist you in the selection process of finding a dog and we suggest you have the dog evaluated before purchase to ensure it is a good fit for the work.

This program teaches on-leash obedience, off-leash obedience, task training, public access, and any other training you might need. For most adult dogs, this should be enough to get the training required, however with more complicated tasks or a new puppy, the training process may take longer. This program is designed so that you will not need professional training for a service dog again, since you will have all the hands on experience to do the training yourself.

Board and Train

This is a program where your dog (if they pass the evaluation and criteria for service work) will stay with a trainer in their home for a minimum of 3 months. During this time, we will maximize on and off leash obedience, begin public access, and start task training. We cannot guarantee a dog will be complete in 3 months, that is just the minimum time requirement. Length of program will be decided based on your dog and the tasks required. It is possible to start with a board and train to kickstart the process and followup with private lessons. These programs are custom made for your needs and no program is identical. Pictures and videos of your dog's progress are sent out every other day. We socialize around dogs, cats, people, kids, dog friendly stores and non-dog friendly stores (once your dog is ready for that), motorcycles, loud noises, fast moving objects, and everything else that we possibly can. Service dogs in training go everywhere with us once they are prepared for it (grocery stores, gas stations, family gatherings, church, etc).

The board and train program is better for adult dogs or older puppies (6 months and up). Younger service dog candidates would do better in private lessons to start with.

We do offer payment programs and financial assistance if needed! Call or text us at 903-563-9313 to ask about monthly payments and programs. Payments can be as low as $200 per month. Payment plans are offered at the discretion of your trainer.
